WHAT TO WEAR FOR SENIOR PHOTOS

A STYLE GUIDE TO HELP YOU LOOK YOUR BEST

Having solid outfits is arguably one of the most important things you can do to make sure your Denver senior photos turn out great. This guide will help you plan ahead so you can show up with confidence and ready to rock your senior photo session.

PICK THREE OUTFITS

I recommend the STANDARD session, which is about 1 hour and enough time for three outfits. Here’s how I suggest dividing them up:

  1. Casual Outfit

  2. Formal Outfit

  3. Personality Outfit

OUTFIT IDEAS FOR SENIOR PHOTOS

CASUAL LOOKS FOR GIRLS

  • SIMPLE & CLASSIC — For a timeless look, choose a simple outfit that won't distract from your face or the surroundings. A pair of well-fitting jeans, a solid-colored top, and some simple jewelry can look great in senior photos. This type of outfit will allow your personality to shine through without overwhelming the photos.

  • ROMPER OR JUMPSUIT — A romper or jumpsuit can be a great option for a casual yet stylish outfit. Choose a romper or jumpsuit that flatters your figure and shows off your personal style. Pair it with some sandals or sneakers for a comfortable and casual look.

  • CASUAL CHIC — Opt for an outfit that is both casual and stylish. You can wear your favorite pair of jeans or shorts, and pair it with a chic top or blouse. Add some accessories, such as a hat or statement jewelry, to complete the look.

NOTE: Most yearbooks will not allow showing the belly button so make sure you have one outfit that fits the yearbook clothing guidelines. The rest of the photos are for YOU.

FORMAL LOOKS FOR GIRLS

  • A STATEMENT DRESS — Choose a dress that is bold and unique to make a statement in your senior photos. Consider something with an interesting print or bold color, or even a dress with a unique cut or detailing. This will make your photos stand out and showcase your personality.

  • A FLOWY SUNDRESS — A light, airy sundress in a pastel color can look great in senior photos. The flowy fabric will create movement and add visual interest to the photos, and the pastel color will be flattering on most skin tones.

  • BOHO CHIC — If you love the bohemian style, consider wearing a flowy maxi dress or skirt with a crop top. Add some layered necklaces or bracelets to finish off the boho vibe. This look is perfect for outdoor nature locations.

CASUAL LOOKS FOR GUYS

  • CASUAL COOL — A more casual outfit can work well for senior photos. Try wearing a well-fitted pair of jeans and a stylish button-down shirt. You can roll up the sleeves and add a pair of sneakers or dress shoes to complete the look.

  • GRAPHIC TEE AND JEANS — For a more casual and laid-back look, a graphic tee with a pair of jeans and look great. This can be a good option for both urban and nature locations.

  • TRENDY BLAZER — A trendy blazer can be a great way to add some style to your senior photos. Try wearing a blazer with a natural color paired with a simple white shirt and khakis.

FORMAL LOOKS FOR GUYS

  • SUIT AND TIE — A classic suit is always a great option for senior photos. Choose a suit that fits well and a tie that complements your outfit. This look is timeless and sophisticated, and can work in a variety of settings. Skip the tie for a more relaxed look.

  • DRESSY CASUAL — For a dressy-casual look, consider wearing a nice fitting button down shirt with a nice pair of jeans or khakis.

  • TRENDY LAYERS — A denim jacket can be a great addition to a casual outfit, adding a stylish touch without looking too dressy. Pair it with a t-shirt and jeans for a relaxed vibe.

PERSONALITY - HOBBIES & INTERESTS

Something that showcases your personality. If you have a unique sense of style or a particular interest, consider incorporating that into your senior photos. For example, if you love vintage fashion, wear a vintage-inspired outfit and do your hair and makeup in a retro style. If you're an athlete, wear your uniform or bring along some sports equipment. The goal is to showcase who you are and what you love in a way that feels authentic and true to you.

YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER

MY STORY

Hey, I’m Tim. In 2016, I told my boss I was leaving my safe, $80K/year finance job to live a more creative and fulfilling life.  I went from a Fortune 500 company to running my own business, shooting everything from Tinder headshots, high school senior photos, family portraits, weddings, NBA & NHL players, corporate executives, fitness instructors, and 80's cover bands.  I truly love what I do and am so lucky I get to call myself a photographer.

I specialize in portrait photography, which means I love photographing people.  So if you want beautiful photos of you or your family or your friends, let’s chat!  Specifically, I do a lot of work with high school senior photography, family portraits, lifestyle and personal branding photos, and couples.  That’s my jam.  I also love to shoot corporate event photos.   So if you’re ready to invest in yourself with beautiful, vibrant, and energetic photos, take a look around and book here when you’re ready.
