I recently wrapped up my second commercial photoshoot with the Denver cover band Midnight Party Machine. What a fun group and they never fail to surprise me with their crazy ideas! Every photoshoot is different and I didn’t know what to expect when we set this up to be done at Carl’s home. He said he had an old dungy garage and we could set up some nice clean backgrounds in there. So, I brought a white background and quickly realized that we should ditch that idea and use the garage. Carl had all kinds of weird things in there and once we lit the garage the way we wanted, I don’t think a set designer could have done a better job than Carl did. The band had some amazing outfits and the colored gels worked great for the look we wanted. You can see in some of the shots that we had the white background set up, but I ended up shooting mostly with a 15mm lens which was wide enough to show off the true character of the garage. I kind of love the contrast between the clean white background that we tried, and then just scraping that idea and using the entire space. There was also an 90’s era stove/oven that we used in some of the shots.
A special thanks to Midnight Party Machine for bringing their best attitudes and outfits. They are an awesome local Denver cover band so if you need live music for your next event, definitely check these guys out! They bring high energy and a wide selection of music to please everyone and get your dance floor rocking!
