I recently had the pleasure of shooting Sammi Jo and Kyle’s engagement photos and I am thrilled to share some of these! Sammi Jo is actually my cousin and I was honored that they asked me to shoot their engagement photos in Rocky Mountain National Park! Her fiance Kyle recently moved up to Boulder for a job at Ball Aerospace and Sammi Jo is still living in Arizona while she prepares for the move up to Boulder in a few months. Their wedding will be in Arizona but they wanted to have their engagement photos done in the Colorado mountains to show off their new home!
I’ve been wanting to do engagement photos at RMNP for a while now and was stoked that Sammi Jo and Kyle were up for the drive! It’s about 1.5 hours from Denver. Bear Lake is such a beautiful spot for photos and we had the perfect weather to make for a picture perfect mountain engagement session. It can be busy during the day but shuttles stop running at 7pm and the crowds start to thin out. We started our shoot around 7:30. Parking was not a problem and we were able to walk right up to Bear Lake without any problem.
Bear Lake is beautiful but you have to do some exploring before you find the perfect spot. For sunset photos, there are some great spots on the north side of Bear Lake that look back towards the East and you’ll get the “alpenglow” look on the mountains overlooking Glacier Gorge in the distance. These photos turned out so beautifully and all the mosquito bites were totally worth it!
