I’ve been loving doing Denver senior photos for East High School kids because it’s the high school in my neighborhood and I feel like it just makes sense to be serving my neighborhood and community. The other school near me is The Denver School of Arts on Montview and I love photographing these kids because the school gives them full creativity to do what they want with their senior photos, no restrictions. It’s taken a few years for the word to spread but I’ve photographed more high school seniors from DSA and East High this year than in my previous years so I think the word is finally starting to get out locally!
I recently had the pleasure of working with Elijah from DSA and we decided to do our photoshoot on Colfax, near and around the Bluebird theater. I’ve done many senior photos here before but on this particular night, there was a festival going on and the crowds around the Bluebird were too much. So we moved a few blocks down which gave me some unfamiliar spots to shoot with. It was awesome! We found some cool vintage signs, a cool coffee shop, and the light was amazing.
Elijah brought some good outfits (his mom picked out lol). The main outfit had a cool coat which I think looks great on guys. Layers are usually good for photoshoots, especially for men. And the urban vibe of Colfax was perfect for his personality and style. We spent most of our time near the Bluebird District and then finished up our shoot near the Lion’s Lair, an old dive bar on Colfax. Not exactly “age appropriate” given the neon beer signs, but it’s a vibe and Elijah’s mom was totally into it so I was thankful for that!
