I had a blast with the McAdams family doing their winter family photos in the mountains of Colorado. This particular family photo session was in Breckenridge, about 1.5 hours from Denver. This was actually my first snow shoot of the year, as we got snow in October (14th!) and it created some beautiful family photos in the mountains of Colorado. It was cold and the boys were freezing, but it was worth it! We even found a tree with some Fall colors left on it.
This particular spot is one of my favorites. It’s called Sapphire Point Overlook and it works great for family photos! It sits above Lake Dillon, about 15 minutes from Breckenridge and offers beautiful views of the mountains (on a clear day). I love this spot because it offers many different viewpoints along the road for those willing to try a few different spots.
The McAdams family was down for switching it up and we went down by the water to get some different views. The water looks beautiful with the snow falling and fog coming off the water. A very unique look that not every photoshoot will get. It was awesome! Everyone was freezing but it was so worth it as the photos turned out beautifully.
I highly recommend Sapphire Point Overlook as a possible location for your next family photoshoot in Summit County. It is good year-round. And although you can’t really see in these photos, it has gorgeous views and great scenery and is close to Breckenridge, Frisco, Dillon, and Keystone. Parking is usually easy but it can be a bit crowded at times. If the main parking lot is crowded, I know several other spots nearby that we can use.
If you are looking for a Denver photographer or Breckenridge family photos, I work with individuals, families, and couples to create a photoshoot experience that is unique and fun for everyone. I serve the Denver and surrounding areas as well as Breckenridge and the mountains of Summit County, Colorado.
