I had an amazing opportunity recently to work with a magazine to photograph their cover story about Faye, who is a pilot based in Denver, CO! She flies for a major commercial airline and flies the Boeing 787 Dreamliner. This was so cool because I got to go down onto the ramp of Denver International Airport and photograph Faye in front of the plane that she flies. It was awesome! I had to wear a special neon vest (that said “PILOT” on the back). This is one reason why I love being a Denver photographer – I get so many cool opportunities to meet amazing people and work in interesting places. This was definitely one of those moments!

We had a limited amount of time so we didn’t get a ton of photos like I normally would, but what we did get was awesome! We started in the cockpit of the plane and get some of Faye where she spends most of her time. The cockpit was tight but actually way more spacious than most planes. The 787 Dreamliner was amazing! She regularly flies to Europe, mostly to London Heathrow and Munich.

Most of my offerings as a Denver photographer are centered around portraits and this was one of my favorite types of photoshoots to do. It tells a bit of a story about a person and what they do. And when it comes to jobs, being a pilot of a Boeing 787 for a major airline is up there on the top of the list! It was awesome and it reminds me of how lucky I am to get to do what I do. It really doesn’t feel like a “job” and that is the best feeling in the world!
