Spring might be my favorite time of year to take family photos in the Denver area… I know so many people love the Fall but it seems like the winters in Colorado are long and Spring just feels like there’s so much to look forward to. Everything is green, wildflowers are starting to bloom, and the temps are usually perfect for photoshoots. As a Denver photographer, it’s a great time to be doing family photos.
It’s been a rainy Spring (we’ll take all the moisture we can get!) but we’ve had some amazing days and I recommend everyone book photoshoots in the Spring while the temps are a little cooler and everything is green and fresh. It’s best to book early to ensure you get a spot on the calendar. And as always, rescheduling is definitely an option if weather looks bad, although I’ve done some awesome photoshoots in stormy weather and they turned out to be amazing.
This family absolutely crushed their photoshoot and picked the perfect time of year to do their family photos. We chose South Mesa Trailhead in Boulder and the location was perfect. Beautiful green grass and the mountains looked amazing. They went with a pastel Spring color vibe and it worked great for the location, although very seasonal. We got lucky with the weather, as Spring can also mean rain… but it was a beautiful evening and the sun was shining and the grass was super green!
The South Mesa Trailhead is a great place to do your family photos near Denver. It’s about a 45 minute drive from Denver. The trailhead is open year-round, but it is busiest during the spring and summer months and can be very busy with photoshoots on the weekends during the Spring, Summer, and Fall seasons. There is a parking fee at the trailhead for non-Boulder County residents, and dogs are allowed on leash.
